biography

I'm a 25-year-old musician, composer, and improviser currently living in Nayarit, Mexico. My solo piano music blends influences from my classical training, new age and contemporary styles, early exposures to sacred music, and other genres such as anime and folk music.

I began studying piano formally at the age of five, although my relationship with it first began from curiosity - wandering over to the instrument and trying to imitate music I heard. My music education, from kindergarten through college, fell within the bounds of a traditional Western classical approach. However, I continued to explore music in my own ways; writing my first composition at age seven and discovering my own musical voice through limitless hours of improvisation. Even while working towards my degree in piano performance, my practice breaks often consisted of improvising my own music - turning off my thoughts and seeking to channel raw emotions.

A Western classical education taught me how to speak one dialect of music articulately, but there are countless other vibrant avenues for expression. After graduation, I began to devote more time to developing my own dialect of music; and through beginning to livestream, I discovered an audience for my original music for the first time.

I believe music is best understood and experienced as a language. As such, I have a special love for live improvisation: the act of creating, or "speaking," something true to yourself and your experience in the present moment, without preparation. In addition to creating and performing my own music, I teach online piano and improvisation lessons, seeking to integrate my understanding of the Western musical system with more intuitive methods of approaching music.

My interests include philosophy, psychology, spirituality, sociology, plant medicine, religion, and creative expression. I'm particularly fascinated by the intersection of science, philosophy, and music, and how it can present new ways of understanding and teaching music. I enjoy deep conversations, traveling, experiencing new cultures, and learning from others' experiences and perspectives of the world.

I'm presently in a state of deep change, rebirth, and evolution, which I believe can be observed through my music. My music is a direction reflection of what I have experienced and learned throughout my life, and it is my way of reflecting the truth I perceive about the world around me. My hope is that you find something within it that resonates in yourself.

I'm constantly seeking to find new ways of understanding and exploring the language of music, both in a technical and philosophical way. I'm passionate about using this knowledge to deepen the degree of meaning in my own work, as well as to better educate others towards their fullest potential for musical self expression.
